We’re really excited to be at the Museums and Heritage Show in Olympia on Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th May. One of the things we’re most excited about is being given the opportunity to talk about our new 3D photogrammetry service, alongside partners Digitisation.IO and ATS. Between 12:45pm-1:25pm in Theatre 4 on Wednesday 10th May we’ll be taking to the stage to talk about the service and how it can provide 3D models of objects for a wide variety of uses and experiences.
3D visualisation has been around for longer than most people think. To many, however, 3D feels like an experience in search of an audience, a solution to a question that nobody has really asked. We want to present you with an alternative argument and show you how 3D technologies and experiences can be used to bring your audiences closer to the stories you are telling and the collections you hold.
3D computer models of objects in cultural heritage collections can be used in all kinds of ways, opening up new ways to excite your existing audiences and engage with new ones. They can be used in interactive displays, on the web, in films and in games. They can be 3D printed, both cheaply for use in handling sessions, but also as highly accurate replicas of the original artefact.
Paul Negus, Managing Director of Genus, will introduce the talk and the service. Spencer Clark, Managing Director of ATS, will show how 3D objects and visualisations can be used to create immersive stories and get audiences closer to the collections and the people that made them. Finally, Martin Devereux, Senior Consultant at Digitisation.IO, will outline the tools and techniques used to create 3D objects and will also showcase the new 3D object visualisation service launched by Digitisation.IO and their partners, Genus.
The Museums and Heritage Show is free to attend, has over 60 talks from heritage specialists and 150 exhibitors. Our talk is between 12:45pm-1:25pm in Theatre 4 on Wednesday 10th May. We’d love to see you there.
