2014 sees Genus celebrate its 40th anniversary of supplying archival imaging solutions, and as we enter our fifth decade we are delighted to announce a new member to further enhance our commitment to the specialist digitisation of heritage materials.
Andrew Austin joins us as Head of Digitisation Solutions, with 15 years of experience at The British Library and eight as Imaging Services Manager at its St Pancras main site, Andrew has vast experience in the undertaking of demanding and complex digitisation projects where precious originals need to be handled in the correct manner.
Andrew has also been a long-serving member and valued contributor to the National Preservation Office/Preservation Advisory Committee.
He will be focused on the provision of consultation, project management and implementation of client’s on-site bespoke digitisation projects as well as management of our dedicated photographic studio at our head office in Nuneaton.
Here at Genus we recognise that no two digitisation projects are the same. Likewise we know that many collections are priceless, hence our offering includes both options to provide digitisation on-site so that material does not leave client’s premises and outsourced but safe in the knowledge that it is being correctly handled and managed in our photographic studio by an expert in your field.
Look out for forthcoming invites to the photographic studio and digitisation open days to learn more about the processes involved.
In the meantime, whether you have an equipment enquiry, need additional digitisation resources, are considering a new project and need advice on handling the competing demands of conservation and digital access or are just looking for simple advice on how to digitise Genus is pleased to assist.
