Thank you for joining us at the Museums & Heritage Show last week. We sincerely appreciate your presence and hope you had a fantastic experience exploring the event. From engaging conversations with exhibitors to gathering fresh ideas, we hope the show proved to be a valuable opportunity for you. At our stand, we were thrilled to witness a remarkable increase in visitor numbers this year. The enthusiasm and energy were visible as our dedicated staff showcased our digitisation services and cutting-edge equipment. In this blog post, we’ll recap some of the exciting highlights from the show and share insights into the latest advancements in the field.
Embracing 3D Photogrammetry: One of the star attractions at our stand was Arago, our cutting-edge 3D photogrammetry rig. Visitors were captivated by the technology, snapping photos and videos as it worked its magic. The overwhelming buzz around 3D indicates that it’s becoming a new and more accessible option for the heritage sector.
As part of our commitment to this exciting field, we announced a joint venture with Digitisation.IO and ATS, pooling our expertise to provide comprehensive 3D modelling and visualisation services for the cultural heritage sector. By combining our strengths, we can now offer museums a wide array of applications and possibilities. Whether it’s creating immersive virtual tours, preserving delicate artifacts through digital replication, or enabling interactive educational experiences, our joint service covers it all. We firmly believe that this collaboration will revolutionise the way museums engage with their audiences and preserve their cultural treasures.
Speaker Session and Upcoming Webinar: During the show, we hosted a speaker session in theatre 4 to introduce our joint 3D service. This provided attendees with an overview of 3D photogrammetry and how it can revolutionise the way we visualise and interact with objects in a digital space. The presentation highlighted the benefits of this technology and showcased real-world applications in various industries. Participants were able to witness the power of 3D photogrammetry through engaging demonstrations, leaving them inspired by the possibilities it offers. If you missed the session or want to delve deeper into the subject, we’re pleased to announce that we’ll be holding a webinar. The webinar will provide an opportunity to learn about 3D photogrammetry, our joint visualisation services, and participate in a Q&A session.
The webinar will be held on 27th June at 11am. During this interactive session, our experts will provide a comprehensive exploration of the topic, covering key concepts, case studies, and the latest advancements in the field. We understand that some of you may have faced difficulties securing a seat due to the overwhelming response to the session. Additionally, the noise from the ongoing construction created an unexpected distraction so if you missed out then sign up for the Webinar here.
Digitisation Services: Our digitisation services continued to be a crowd favourite, thanks to our high standards and ability to digitise versatile and complex archives. Andrew Austin, our Head of Digitisation, has already scheduled visits to assess archive collections for digitisation. Additionally, our community engagement software – Recollect showcased the BRM Archives and drew a lot of attention. This software has given BRM the ability to enrich their collections, capture and manage new content, as well as discuss new ideas from anywhere in the world, whilst monetising some of their assets.
On the 22nd June we will be holding another of our popular Digitisation Workshops. Our free Digitisation Workshops help organisations gain an understanding of the processes involved in starting a digitisation project from capture through to serving of the digitised content. Expert independent speakers will talk through how to plan and implement a successful digitisation project. Plus, we will take you on a tour of our own digitisation studios and show you our equipment and workflow. If you’d like to attend, you can register on the Digitisation Workshop page
Cutting-Edge Equipment: At the show, we showcased a range of digitisation equipment that garnered significant interest. The Versascan A0 flatbed scanner impressed visitors with its ability to capture high resolutions of large and small items such as maps and artwork including its textures. Notably, we had the pleasure of assisting a representative from the Royal Philatelic Society, who brought a collection of stamps, both genuine and fraudulent, for scanning. The scanner allowed us to zoom in and analyse the subtle differences between the two types.
The new Zeutschel OS A overhead scanner was also on display, offering a versatile solution for digitising diverse collections while complying with international standards such as ISO 19264-1 (Level A) & FADGI 4 Star Metamorfoze . Recognising the industry’s need to stay up to date with imaging standards, we will be hosting a conference in June to demonstrate how organisations can easily achieve compliance with the right tools. Please contact us for an exclusive invite to this upcoming event should you wish to attend.
Over on stand U3 we teamed up with our suppliers The Crowley Company to focus specifically on their exceptional line of Microfilm scanning solutions. Whether you’re an institution catering to public access or require high-volume scanning, Crowley’s Microfilm equipment offer a range of options to meet your needs.
Last but not least, we unveiled the Inotec SCAMAX® 6×1, a revolutionary scanner designed to digitise fragile historical documents ten times faster than traditional overhead scanners. With its secure and gentle paper handling and FADGI*** compliance, the 6×1 scanner can be used as a standalone solution or in conjunction with overhead cultural heritage scanners from leading manufacturers.
The Museums + Heritage Show was an incredible opportunity to connect with the museum community and showcase the latest advancements in digitisation services and equipment. The positive response to our 3D offerings and the enthusiastic engagement from visitors demonstrated the industry’s growing interest in embracing new technologies. We look forward to continuing the conversation through our upcoming webinar, conference, and further collaborations to revolutionise the cultural heritage sector.
Thank you once again for joining us at the Museums + Heritage Show. We look forward to continuing our partnership and bringing forth even more ground-breaking advancements in the future.
