The Genus Group are sad to announce the death of Mrs Brenda May Hubbard at the age of 91 after a short illness.
Brenda was one of the founding senior managers of J & J Negus Ltd – the parent company of The Genus Group. She and John Negus created and managed the company from nothing, to create the substantial base of the existing group.
She started in the industry in 1968, the year of birth of our current Managing Director and her Grandson, Paul Negus, as Production Manager of Scanneg Microfilm Systems Ltd., the company that morphed into Caledonian Reprographics.
Following the creation of J & J Negus Ltd, who traded as Genneg Associates and The Microfilm Shop, she became General Manager until she retired at the age of 70 in 1994.
She will be sadly missed (not just for her sharp tongue) by family, friends and ex-colleagues in the industry. A small, but lasting legacy for her, is the BMH range of microfilm storage cabinets that were named after her initials over 20 years ago. During her final days she was still talking about her time in the microfilm industry – an industry where she was famous for taking no prisoners – as many a bureau owner will bare witness to!
Good night and rest in peace Sergeant Major
