SP&C Document Archiving Consultant, Steven McPherson was contacted by a client to submit a quote for digitisation of a local authority archive.
He visited the client, where they were met with in excess of 12,000 large format drawings stored in a Portakabin that was physically beyond repair – water ingress and structurally not secure. The local authority gained 3 quotes to digitise the archive with relevant metadata pulled from each drawing, via a Public Contracts Scotland framework.
SP&C were delighted to have been awarded the project.

Steven reached out to Simon Brown at Genus IT, who he had worked with on similar requirements in the past. Simon suggested ROWE, instead of Stevens’ preference of other makes he had used on similar projects in the past. Given the price, quickness of supply of unit, Simon’s knowledge of the make and model and relationship Steven has had with Genus over the past 30 years, they decided to proceed with the ROWE.
Delivery and in-person full training was provided by Genus to the SP&C Glasgow facility. As Steven said –
“We have found the ROWE 450i to be a fantastic, versatile, fast and high-quality unit. It has handled all that we have thrown at it – varying size, thickness, very poor quality of drawings, all in a productive and high-quality manner, totally suitable for our service bureau. The support we have received from Genus has been quick and concise. We would not hesitate to use Genus and recommend them in the future.”
As Simon Brown mentions “We have known Steven for many years, and he has been a loyal client and friend for all that time. It was a pleasure to support him on this project. I would recommend Steven and his company – Social Print and Copy CIC – to anyone. They are a very professional and hard-working organisation with a superb ethos.”
